Laura Fish

Boston-based Laura Fish is a curiosity-driven creative whose reality is only *slightly* augmented by an overactive imagination. She is passionate about both solving pixel problems as a digital product designer and creating her own artwork as an artist. Every day she finds herself criss-crossing that artist-designer axis. Her artwork process is influenced by the discipline required in design, and her design work draws heavily on her artistic sensibilities.

Her go-to medium is paper and a staggering array of pencils—graphite, color, clay, carbon, and charcoal. She loves both the preciseness of a pencil’s sharp lines and the blended softness achieved by smudging. She believes even the most minute details are a worthy obsession. Ultimately for her, being an artist is rooted in love for the process. She revels in every moment, from teasing out an idea to bringing it to life through a thousand pencil strokes. Her most recent gallery showing It’s All in Your Head truly captured the essence of her work: intricate pencil illustrations that juxtapose traditional portraiture with a surreal, contemporary twist. But honestly, don’t over think it…it’s all in your head.
