Raised by artists deep in the woods of New Hampshire, Giberson grew up fascinated by the manicured scenes and presumed normality of suburbia. The tension between its many contradictions continues to inspire her work. Painting directly onto a foundation of photographic pigment prints, she explores the imagined truths and psychological undercurrents lurking beneath the surface as she transforms seemingly ordinary scenes into cinematic, solitary moments. Giberson earned her BFA in painting from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 1997. After decades of apartment living in the city, she recently relocated her home and studio to a historic house north of Boston, where she is busy turning the lawn into garden beds.
