John Walker

John Walker’s work centers around a core of imagined narratives, as with his recent series of faux antiquities from an invented culture. Much of his work is executed in a realistic manner that often includes elements of graphic design, stylization, and three dimensional objects.

"My work might best be placed within the broad spectrum of pop surrealism or new contemporary with many pieces exhibiting a streak of dark humor. I’m essentially working within a couple of different series. The first revolves around the concept that we live in a multiverse and that the reality we experience is only one of many possible realities. This is the basis for my Dankquart Collection series, rediscovered antiquities from a lost civilization, existing in another part of the multiverse, one very much like ours, but slightly skewed. These are often mixed media pieces; reliquaries, shrines, or portraits, usually mounted in embellished frames."
