Alec Huxley

Alec Huxley's work is representational, anchored by haunting cityscapes definitively of the American West Coast and the ghostly remnants of it's historic migration. Cinematic-like scenes serve as historical records of place, time and architectural style as well as the settings for surreal narratives. Well dressed figures in space helmets drift among Victorian buildings or rendezvous with wild animals in the empty streets of San Francisco. Other work references classical portraiture and still-life, with surreal combinations of nude astronauts perched atop solitary beasts, memento mori and anthropomorphic primates.
